Drumpetello is a unique and dynamic ensemble featuring trumpet (Mary Thornton), cello (Carrie Pierce) and percussion (Matthew McClung). Separately and together they have performed interactive educational programs for thousands of school children. They are award-winning educators and performing musicians, having entertained audiences on five continents with their unique blend of informative demonstrations and dazzling virtuosity. They are in demand as core and substitute members of the symphony orchestras of Corpus Christi, Victoria, San Antonio, Mid-Texas, and the River Oaks Chamber Orchestra. As recipients of a 2014 Faculty Innovation grant, they commissioned new works from several composers based on the folk legends, myths, and melodies of Mexico. The 2015 premieres of these works met with acclaim and culminated in a tour of northern Scotland. Subsequently, Drumpetello was invited to perform at the 2016 International Trumpet Guild Conference in Anaheim, CA. The beginning of 2017 saw another round of commissions with works from Brett Kroening, Erberk Eryilmaz, P Kellach Waddle, and David Gillingham. In May of 2018, Drumpetello's debut recording was released on Summit Records. Drumpetello is currently in residence as faculty at the School of Arts, Media and Communication at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi.
